Located 130km south of Hanoi in Ninh Binh province, Cuc Phuong National Park and the surrounding area make a perfect side trip from Hanoi. The Park is an important nature reserve and ecosystem with peaks of over 600 Meters and valleys of subtropical rainforest. The Park also has an important Endangered Primate Rescue Center and a Turtle Conservation Center. It is home to other rare and critically endangered mammals including species of leopards and tigers. There are at least 280 known species of butterflies, and birders can marvel at more than 300 bird species.
Day 1: Hanoi – Cuc Phuong national park (L,D)
8.00 Depart from Hanoi by private vehicle to Cuc Phuong National Park . Visit the Endangered Primate Rescue Centre to learn about the important work being done to help protect the endangered species of the park. After lunch in the park restaurant, take a 2-hour trek through the old rainforest. Overnight in the guesthouse within the park.
Day 2: Cuc Phuong – Hoa Lu, Tam Coc – Hanoi (B,L)
After breakfast, head to the historic capital of Viet Nam and the famous ancient temples of The Le and The Dinh Dynasties. Cycling for an hour on picturesque quiet roads through villages, rice fields, rivers and rocky outcrops to Tam Coc (12km) for lunch.
After lunch, a sampan boat journey (1 hour) in the heart of “Inland Ha Long Bay”. Take in the beauty of the karsts formations as you pass along their base and row into one of the many caves carved through the limestone.
Stop for a short rest near a small shrine before returning to the dock (1 hour). Totally, you have 2 hours on the sampan boat.
Drive back to Hanoi
