Bat Trang village lies on the bank of the Hong River, about 13 kilometers from Hanoi. To get there, you cross the Chuong Duong Bridge out of central Hanoi, turn right onto dilapidated, heavily pot-holed road and try to avoid being hit by the trucks, buses and motorcycles that jokey to overtake each other in both directions.

Bat trang, an ancient traditional craft village well- known for ceramic, lies on the left bank of the Red river, about 15 km Southeast of Hanoi center. Visiting Bat trang to enable the visitor to see different aspects of the activities, buildings, ceramics are being made and people of the village. Further more, cycling through beautiful green gardens, plantations with fresh air is great fun and exercise.
ITINERARY:
08.00 AM: You will be picked up from your hotel in Hanoi by our guide and taken by taxi to our bike store.
After 20 minutes we arrive at a small village on the other bank of the Red River. The biking guide will give a short briefing about the bikes such as how to change gear (there are 24 gears), and some useful information about the biking trail. We then enjoy a cup of tea or coffee at a local shop before peddling to Bat Trang.
We start riding along the dike & the Red river for few kilometers before joining a small biking trail that winds through the fields of corn, vegetables and fruit. We cycle almost entirely on the back roads through nature and peaceful countryside villages.
After about two hours, we arrive in Bat Trang, a typical small village of Northern Vietnam lying some 15 kilometers southeast of Hanoi, on the left bank of the Red River. The village is renowned for the outstanding quality of its ceramic and pottery products.
After lunch in a local restaurant, we will take a short walk through the village to see the ceramic market, Bat Trang temple, and communal house. Discover the real local life as you walk through the tiny alleys branching off to the right and left.
Before starting the ride back, you may want to make a stop at a local workshop to learn all about the pottery process and even try making your own piece, before saying goodbye to your teacher and heading off again.
We enjoy another two hours of cycling on quiet roads back to Hanoi.
Upon arriving back at our bike store around 16:00, you will be taken by taxi back to your hotel, where the trip ends.
